Picnic & Boating

 Two days and one night, the longest picnic, it was fun yet very tiring. We went home via Hood River to have dinner to cap off the wonderful trip.

Lake Billy Chinook

 

August 29th, we rented a pontoon boat and explored Lake Billy Chinook from corner to corner, it took 7.5 hours, including some stops at the floating restrooms and campgrounds.

The Cove Palisades State Park

 

The first day, it was too early to check in for the hotels, so we explored The Cove Palisades from the rim, there are four viewing area along SW Mountain View Drive.

Benedictine Brewery

 

When Pokie wants to go to Woodburn Outlet Mall, I suggested that we revisit Mount Angel Abbey, this time we stop at Benedictine Brewery run by monks.

Bella Organic Farm

 

We had been to Sauvie Island, so finding this place is a breeze, since we come on weekdays, this place is empty and we have the store to ourselves, I can't imagine to come on any weekends.

Troll Bridge Portland

 

I found this Portland Icon (Keep Portland Weird) by accident, Pokie wanted to go to Bella Organic Farm, when I look at the google Map, this place was just the first right turn from the main highway. So I surprised Pokie to see this place.

In search for Donuts Peach

 

The time is NOW to pick up our donuts peach. When we got to Hood River, it was still too early for our schedule pick up, so we take a walk at the Hood River Waterfront Trail. We also stopped by at the "White House" before heading home.

Indian Beach, Ecola State Park

 

I think this is picnic number five or six with the group, I lost count now, but this time I chose the beach, since air conditioning is provided the nature, cloudy day and not much wind - a perfect day.

Mount Angel Abbey

 

Instead of going to Oregon Garden we decided to visit the Mount Angel Abbey as part of our Monday outing. Thanks to Mary (Monday volunteer), she gave us a private tour of the abbey and telling us about the noon prayers by the monk.

Newport

 

Dock # 5

Check in is at 4:00 PM, so we took our time from home to this spot. Morning walk is fun and we explore Newport Bay front, lunch as Clearwater - yummy

Yaquina Head Lighthouse

 

We try to escape the heat by staying at the coast, this is the second time we visited Yaquina Head lighthouse. The grounds are improved with nice pavement.
