Holiday Lights

Nike World Headquarters
I ask Pokie to drive me to these spots, I am experimenting with high ISO and no tripod, I think this is the best I could do. In less than 10 minutes of taking pictures at the Nike headquarters. the security guard came and usher us out from the "private property", he just did not know I own a piece of Nike..ha..ha...ha...

Autumn leaves, a study of abstract under the tree

A study of abstract under a tree
I met the neighbor who owns this tree, and he show me what he took using just a smartphone, so I asked at what time? He told me 1:00 PM but that was the daylight savings time, so when it was sunny at 11:30 AM, I walk to his house and snap some pictures.

Autumn - Series 5

SW Teal Blvd
This is my third website I created today, I think I have enough now. I saw it when I drove from a photo shoot. I asked Pokie to drive me here.

Autumn shot with iPhone 6S

SW 151st Street
I was restless, so I took a walk and I was presented with the fall colors, this time I did not bring my mirrorless camera. not a problem, my iPhone is in my pocket. Enjoy!

Autumn on SW Brockman Street

In front of Southwest Hills church
When I saw it is cloudy I told Pokie that I am going to use the car for awhile to go to this spot that I have not taken the leaves. I almost gave up when the sun was out but briefly.

Autumn leaves on SW Murray Blvd

My canvas
I killed two birds with one stone this morning, walking about 1.7 miles and taking pictures. I just love it when the sun was hiding temporarily. The lighting is even and you can concentrate on taking pictures than worrying the shadows.

Autumn 2019

Autumn 2019
For some reasons, autumn 2019 is the most colorful from the year past. I ask Pokie to drive me around town and she waits patiently while I take some photographs. I break it down into 3 series and I think I am satisfied.

Autumn Trip to Canada

Gold Creek Lower Falls Trail
I am beginning to like iPhone to take decent images, I am thinking to upgrade to iPhone 11 which is just available last month. The colors are vivid and I am sure it is a lot better camera than what I use now.

Banff Gondola

Fourth floor observation deck
Now I am curious to find the pictures when we got here for the first time, it is still spectacular. We now summit Sulphur Mountain. The distance was 1.3 miles with 16 flight of stairs.

Lake Minnewanka

Boat ride at Lake Minnewanka
I still remember the first time we came here with my first digital camera, I want to recreate what I saw but apparently things are not what I imagine. I still want to get the old image if I remember.

Lake Moraine

Lake Moraine
Lake Moraine (dubbed the best lake in Canada), it is only a short drive from Lake Louise, but if I do not have a Handicap placard, I don't think that we could get in here, it has to be by bus. I would not recommend going here in the summer time, it is a zoo.

http://www.yongkieandpokie.com/banff/moraine.html

Lake Louise

The view from Chateau Lake Louise
We came here either eighteen or nineteen years ago, but I still have a vivid recollection on how beautiful the turquoise water is. We are going down to Montana later to attend a wedding.

Oregon Coast Railriders

Returning from the 09:00 o'clock trip
We came here without planning or reservation, I thought Tuesday is a light day. but I was wrong. The 09:00 o'clock has gone for 30 minutes and the "noon" schedule is fully book. O well, at least we had a cooler weather as 90 degrees is predicted for Portland area.

Hughes Water Gardens

One of the water gardens
When I saw the giant water lily, I remember that I had been here many many years ago, I did not remember how I found it at the first place. This is a neat place to bring your camera and start shooting. It was fun indeed to go back to this place.

Natsu Matsuri

10th annual Natsu Matsuri (summer festival)
Kyokosan (one of my Japanese "teacher") reminded that July 27th. there will be Natsu Matsuri or summer festival sponsored by Yoshida Group and Uwajimaya Supermarket. So I put the date in my calendar, I made sure that I came in early to see the preparation.

Snapshots

Torii of Itsukushima Shrine
These are a collection of snapshots from iPhone and from the Sony mirrorless camera, the images will added later on.

The Ramlis

Kyoto Tour
Well, we know Kyoto like in a back of our hands, at the end I have to pull all I know to go from point A to point B, as they want to see more and more.

Worth a second look

Atomic Bomb (Genbaku) Dome
This website is about a second "look" worth displaying, it is an addition that I have to do. From beginning to the end of our journey.

Hiroshima Catholic Church

07:30 Mass in Japanese
We just walk from our hotel to the church in less than 15 minutes. This church is dedicated to the victims of Atomic Bomb that was dropped on August 6th, 1945 at 8:15 AM. Pope John II was in Hiroshima on February 25th, 1981.

Fukuoka - Old Town and New City

In front of Tochoji Temple
Fukuoka is a modern city with a flare of Old Town Hakata, this images are in search for the "authentic" ramen called GENKI IPPAI.

Journeys in Japan - iPhone

Kurama Dera
This website is from my iPhone, I am thinking NOT to bring the mirrorless camera in the future but I still have doubt, maybe the heat and humidity makes me think that way, anyway enjoy the images.

Ohori Park

Ohori Koen
Morning stroll without the heat is wonderful, then a little Japanese and a little English, we make friend with Yuki-san and her dog Rocky.

Hiroshima Trams - Hiroden

Hiroden at Hiroshima Station
Just like a kid in a candy store, I click the camera shutter every time there is a movement of the trams, and I watch how these trams make an efficient way in and out from the main station. I also tried the ASTRAM Linem a rubber tired trams.

Atomic Bomb Dome

Atomic Bomb (Genbaku) Dome
I have never felt so sad in making a website before, somehow I have to make the story correctly, last night I was dreaming to include the picture of the survival, which I omitted yesterday when choosing the images. This is 1945 technology, can you imagine nowadays? I hope my website do the justice in telling the story.

Iwakuni - Kintaikyo

Kintaikyo from the east side of the river
It is a challenging task to take photographs in the rain, Pokie has to hold the big umbrella while I compose and snap a few pictures, at time I can manage it by myself. It is raining the whole time when we were there, we found Kikko Park by accident.

Sunday, June 23, 2019

Miyajima, Itsukushima Shrine

Itsukushima's torii gate appears floating on a high tide.
The day started just cloudy, we are very lucky to be there very early before any tourists are destroying the view. it later rains and its so humid, I will not go to Japan during the beginning of summer months as it is the rainy season, it makes the travelling twice as tiring compared when it is cool weather.

Vancouver Waterfront, Washington, USA

Grant Street Pier
When I heard today is going to be so warm, I made a plan last night to visit Vancouver Waterfront, it is only 20 miles, so we go after the morning rush hour and go home before everybody uses the freeway in the afternoon. We had lunch at WildFin restaurant and it was good.

iPhone images

Old and New
I will add as I take pictures with my iPhone, I just like the images that it can capture because "the camera" is always in my pocket.

Saturday, April 20, 2019

Azalea

Red Carpet
We miss to see this for many years now, finally we came this afternoon at the right time, no rain is a bonus, but when the sun is out, it creates too many unwanted shadow. Enjoy the "red carpet" in the spring. Happy Easter 2019.

Fort Vancouver - by iPhone 6S

Fort Vancouver
I am making a comparison between my Sony mirrorless and my iPhone 6S, my conclusion is iPhone images are more vivid, just do not use the digital zoom.

Fort Vancouver

Fort Vancouver (reconstruction)
Sometimes we tend to ignore National Park that is so close (just 13 miles from home), so that day we decided to drive to Washington State and explore the site. This complex is so vast that we might have to come back again some other day.

Kubota Garden, Seattle

Kubota Garden, early Spring 2018
These images lay dormant in my iPhone for a little more than a year, we were busy at that time for the preparation to go to Holland and Paris. When I look back on the images I realize that I have not made a website for it. I did not bring my mirrorless camera at that time since we were just walking around, it turned out this is one of the nicest Japanese garden in the Northwest.

Visiting Daniel, Kimmy and Monique in 2008

Statue Liberty, New York
I always forget where is this website located, since way back then I was not very organize in term of FILE MANAGER, so I gave to put it here so that I can go back and remember the link. This was in 2008, the last time I saw my dear friend Daniel before the the brain tumor won over him, a trip that I will cherish, the memories of one week in New Jersey and Maryland.

Poelang Kampoeng 2010

Borobudur 2010
I always do not remember the web address that I created almost nine years ago, so today I searched the "Luminate" and found it as "kangen2010", so here it is, what a memorable time we had, I went back two years later in 2012, and that was the last time I went back to Indonesia, my mom did not recognize me then and call me "Ping". Here's the website
