I am itching to go somewhere, someplace close to home; winter has taken a toll on me. I want to explore more, but the weather is less than perfect to go out and take more pictures. I looked back where I have been and relive the places that we visited. I am longing for “salty air treatment” in Oregon Coast. Next week, we have Monday off. So we hope that the weather will give some sunshine and I am ready to get some “salty air treatment”.

Snow Blizzard and Sun

First snow of 2012, January 15th.

Portlanders are still excited about the snow, especially if it comes down to the city level. As for me there’s element of excitement and danger, especially if you were out and caught in the middle of it just like the first snow of 2012. We were just wrapping up our lunches with friends when all of a sudden the snow was coming down hard with the wind and it came down with big flakes. Luckily, Pokie has her Point and Shoot camera in the purse. Here is the result.

Free is a good price, you can’t beat that! When Lan Su Garden offers fee free admission (January 2^nd  to January 9^th, 2012) and today is not raining, we go in a heart beat. This garden celebrates the coming of Chinese New Year on January 23^rd. This is winter scene and this is the second time I visited this garden, the first being in late spring of 2008. Because it is free, the crowd is tremendous (more than 700 visitors at noon) and my focus today is to see more details with a few that I think it’s good to show how winter looks like in this garden.

Holiday Cookies 2011

December 11th, 2011

“It’s beginning to look like Christmas, it’s that wonderful smell of fresh cookies coming out of the ovens”. The time is here when we at BCI (Beaverton Culinary Institute) bake cookies for the holiday seasons of 2011. We have no treasurer nor we have dues, but this year we have wonderful gift of aprons. Finally, it looks like we are more professional than ever. Here are the cookies, enjoy them while they last.

The different between a kid and an adult is the price of the toys. Today we went to see “live steamer” trains. This huge “warehouse” opens for a few hours to the viewing public for the holiday season and we are lucky enough to be able to go. It was forewarn to dress warm since heat is almost non-existence.

I improvised…

My "new and improved walking cane".

The need is the mother of all inventions, I do not know whether this is true or not. No, I did not invent anything, I didn’t invent the walking cane or the bicycle light, but I got the idea of combining both to make my life easier, especially for walking in the dark. It is hard to hold a walking cane with the left hand and hold a flashlight on the other. So last Saturday I went to a bicycle shop and got this flashlight.
